I am normally a cautious person, rather conservative. I have learned in my life that it is risky to trust others. I have always had a strong feeling someone larger than life is in charge and I need do nothing on my own. I have learned that we all think we are in control, whether it be of our own lives, or others, but that we are mere mortals and we are like candles. At the slightest breeze, our flame is snuffed out. Every day of life is a gift. And life is fragile. This world has gone through tough times over and over across eons. But I must say that I have never seen so many things go wrong at once in my life or in history. Of course, many will bring up past catastrophes, be they natural disasters, epidemics, wars, upheavals of entire societies. Still, in studying history, the numbers of population that were involved in these events were far less than the population being affected today. We are experiencing monumental problems that we have no solutions for at this time, and none seem to be on the horizon. There are epidemics, terrible natural disasters, much division within our country and others. Indeed, division amongst all countries on Earth. I never thought I would see the day when no two people could agree on anything. We have never been so divided in the history of this Earth. I dread the news every morning. I watch the highlights in disgust. Prejudice and bigotry of every kind are running wild. Economic disaster is creating thousands of homeless victims. Murder and mayhem, wars and we see the lowering of our collective mores. Everything seems to be politics as usual. Solution after solution is proposed by men and women who make my high school teachers look like geniuses. Maybe I am just getting old. But maybe there is something to this chaos and mindless destruction of our world and each other. Maybe we really are facing a “perfect storm”, as they say, of collective disasters, both natural and manmade. And what if this is true, where does that leave us. I have a feeling the world will go on and never end. But how will those who survive this perfect storm find life on Earth….think about that. There are many who do not believe in God. Many who scoff at everything related to God and faith. They will surely be in a panic with no one to turn to for answers, because they have never established a moral compass, a conscience, or a strength that comes from knowing and having a personal relationship with God. I urge you to consider reading “The Book of Jesus”. Christianity has been our best and brightest hope for humans on this world for a very long time. But we must not turn our backs on Jesus. Those of us in Jesusanity who long ago established a personal relationship with God, have now realized what it truly means to say, “No one comes to the Father but through the Son”. Something else you should consider is when we pray, “Our Father, Who Art In Heaven, Hallowed Be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done, On Earth As It Is In Heaven”. “Father, Thy Will Be Done.” What will you do? Credit Suzanne Marchand Albright-Steeley www.thejesusbooks.com
